Worldview and Representation Filters: How Include/Exclude Helps You Personalize Reading

Worldview and Representation Filters (How Include/Exclude Helps You Personalize Reading)

Bright Haven is designed to help you find clean, closed-door romance that feels comfortable and enjoyable. Because every reader’s preferences are different, Bright Haven includes Worldview and Representation filters that let you include or exclude certain options while browsing.

This guide explains what these filters are, how to use them, and how to apply them in a way that keeps the experience positive and simple.

What Are Worldview and Representation Filters?

These filters exist to support reader preference.

Some readers want stories that align closely with a certain worldview, faith perspective, or value set. Others prefer broader variety. Some readers want to prioritize certain kinds of representation, while others prefer to browse without considering it at all.

Bright Haven’s goal is not to label books or readers. The goal is to give you control so you can choose what feels right for you.

Include vs. Exclude (How the Filters Work)

Include

Use Include if you want to see more books that match a specific preference.

Example:

  • You enjoy stories with a particular worldview tone
  • You are intentionally seeking certain representation in your reading

Exclude

Use Exclude if you want to avoid a specific option.

Example:

  • You are trying to avoid certain themes or perspectives right now
  • You want to narrow your list to content that feels consistently aligned with your preferences

The Simplest Way to Use These Filters

If you are not sure where to start, keep it simple:

  1. Start with your Genre/Subgenre (the vibe you want)
  2. Set your Peppers level (romance intensity)
  3. Set Content Levels (profanity, violence, substances)
  4. Exclude any Sensitive Themes
  5. Use Worldview/Representation filters only if you need them

Best Practices (So Results Don’t Get Too Narrow)

1) Make one change at a time

If you include or exclude too many options at once, your results may become very limited. Start with one preference, then adjust if needed.

2) Use these filters as a “finishing touch”

Most readers get the best results by using worldview/representation filters after they have already narrowed the list by genre and comfort levels.

3) If you want variety, leave them off

You do not need these filters to enjoy Bright Haven. If you prefer discovering stories without filtering by worldview or representation, simply leave them unselected.

If You’re Not Sure What a Book Includes

Some titles include additional details under More Info. If you prefer not to see spoilers, it is usually better to:

  • filter first
  • browse your filtered list
  • open More Info only when needed
